HEY EVERYONE!!

YES, I’m still alive and we’re in our LAST country, with 26 days left!! ARE YOU KIDDING?! It’s honestly surreal and bittersweet that I’m about to leave so many of my best friends that I’ve been living and working alongside for the past 9 months, but, also going to be reunited with some of the people I love most! Just had some things on my heart and wanted to share a little of what I’ve been doing over the past month and some of the things that the Lord is walking me through currently!!

For the past month, I’ve been serving in Quito, Ecuador with a team of 11 girls that have partnered with Dunamis Foundation helping underaged girls who been rescued from sex trafficking. There are fourteen girls here at the foundation aging from 9-17 years and four of the girls have babies ranging from 8 months- 2 years old. Here, we’ve been helping in discipleship classes, group therapies, equine therapy, English classes, agriculture, soccer and aiding in any way we can to benefit their personal rehabilitation process. They’ve all become some of my bestest of friends and make me laugh on the daily, they teach me so much about my own worth when I thought I was coming here to remind them of theirs. They’re truly amazing. They LOVE Just Dance and have pretty much every move memorized, they LOVE movies, Camp Rock to be specific- and last week we were able to do a bonfire with s’mores (Just like the movie!) It was a lot of their first times to sit around a fire and tell stories and laugh, it was the best.

Working here and being in the last leg of the race, about to be out of the community I’m in, I’ve been asking myself this question so much- What is my purpose? With Holy Week being 3 weeks ago, I reflected a lot on what Paul said to the church in Philippi- He exhorts his readers to remain steadfast in their faith and to imitate the humility of Christ, who “emptied himself” and “became obedient unto death, even death on a cross” (2:7–8.) HE LITERALLY CAME DOWN IN HUMAN LIKENESS, PERFECT AND FREE OF SIN to DIE on a cross that HE created and HE sustained. He didn’t use being the son of God to his advantage, every strike, he felt, in order to save us. I know most Christians have heard this time and time again but HOW do we become numb to this? I’m guilty of it myself. How do we just forget? The King of Kings, Lord of Lords, we sing the right words in songs, raise our hands saying he’s our all but do we live it out? I was listening to a podcast the other day that said we need to live in a posture that seeks to serve, seeks to understand before seeking to be understood, hear in order to be humble, and have humility towards others. We need to value others above ourselves. Because OUR God serves, even when we don’t deserve. In another podcast a man said “if your life makes perfect sense to the unbeliever, something is terribly wrong.” You can read it again if you need, it’s so simple, yet so good. WE NEED TO HAVE THIS HEART POSTURE and live to serve the Lord & our brothers and sisters.

So again, What is my purpose?

I came to the conclusion that If I’m living to know God and make Him known, I will not live a life without purpose. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life waiting around for what’s next but continue listening for what the Lord has planned for my life because He is absolutely worth it!!

Also, I know I’m the WORST at keeping you guys updated and I am so sorry for that, but I am so looking forward to catching up over coffee or lunch!

I’m also extremely grateful that you are the people that love and support me and have invested so much in me. Thank you.

All my Love,

Lex

  1. 26 dayssss! Can’t wait to have you home again, wanting to hear all your stories and just be able to hold my girl. Love you so much and miss you sunshine.

This was really good Lexi. We have been reminded of this by Pastor Cameron these past few weekends. We are called to stand out and not live for the world. Sometimes very hard to do.

God is so good, gracious and merciful but does not mean we are to take advantage of that truth.

    ????

  2. Love this and love you! Excited that you are about to return so that we can hear more of what God has done in you and through you!!!

  3. All your updates have perfect timing. It’s his timing not our. His agenda not ours. His purpose not ours. Thanks for the reminder. See you in June!!

  4. Lexi, Thanks for the reminder that the posture of my heart is what God sees. It’s good to re-check it and remind myself of the sacrifice He made for me. Enjoy these last few days of loving on those girls at Dunamis. I’ll be praying for you through the good-byes, the transitions, debrief, and home. You are loved!
